Best Review: HP Touchsmart TX2 12.1-Inch Notebook - I bought my TX2Z shortly before starting a college program. It lasted just under 2 years before the motherboard failed. About 6 months or so after purchase, the CPU cooling fan began to run much more frequently. After about a year, it ran constantly. I frequently used compressed air to blow out the vents (the cooling fins appeared clean) and even removed the DVD drive, in case it was helping to cause the heat build-up. Finally, the weekend before an exam and one week before finals, it failed and flashing lights on the keyboard signaled a motherboard failure. I had been using a cooling pan w/dual fans anytime I was on A/C power (80% of the time during the first year of ownership and almost 100% of the time after that), so I don't believe I caused the failure with poor ventilation.When it worked properly, I really liked it. However, it seems that motherboard failures related to heat build-up are common in this line. Shame on you, HP!
