Best Review: StarTech.com 8 Port 1U Rack Mount USB KVM Switch Kit with OSD and Cables (SV831DUSBUK) - I spent no small amount of time on several long calls to Startech tech support before ordering. They had to work for this sale, for sure. They convinced me that this less expensive product of theirs would work best for me in my situation with my particular computers.This is an amazing improvement over the another brand unit that I will not name because it did serve me faithfully since 2003 or so and was still working when I replaced it.You do need more than one computer to really need this product, though.The cables are high quality but they are proprietary so you must use their cables to connect the computers. The KVM does not have individual USB ports for different computers. Their cables are very high quality with what looks like standard VGA on one end but has a VGA and a USB on the computer end. They must have used some kind of computer magic or something to cram the USB into the VGA style connector along with the USB on the KVM side.Also I had no problem using PS/2 keyboard and trackball with a converter (some converters work and some won't so take care with this).It also has lights on the front. I like that.
